As series of plant spirit & elemental retreats
with Emma & Davyd Farrell
A transformational journey around the medicine wheel with four plants and trees of Manannan Mac Lir: Hawthorn (Fire), Alder (Water), Burdock (Earth) and Ragwort (Air). Working through the medicine wheel creates a shamanic healing journey and brings us back into cyclical living in alignment with the elemental forces of the earth. The medicine wheel itself is multidimensional and so is the transformation within ourselves as we work with the alchemy of plant spirits and the 4 directions. Shamanic journeys have the potential to awaken dormant aspects of ourselves, to shine the light into the shadowy corners of our psyche and to align ourselves to our true nature and our purpose for being alive at this point in time.
The plants and trees are a direct connection to source energy, to the spirit realms and to our own indigenous wisdom and so through their guidance we will receive psychospiritual healing, align the conceptual mind with the higher mind and discover a deeper sense of our life’s purpose.
We will begin the journey with Hawthorn at Bealtaine, in the direction of South and with the element of fire as Hawthorn is the gateway into the Otherworld. The heart medicine of our islands, Hawthorn is known as the Faery Tree and the Queen of Bealtaine marking the cross quarter between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice and heralding prayers for a fertile and abundant summer. Associated with the ruling deity of the Isle of Man, Manannan Mac Lir, Hawthorn leads us into the land of the shining ones and into the inner realms of nature. So what can we learn from this magical tree? Well first and foremost are the teachings of the heart because we can not access these realms unless we know what truly lies within our own.
Full of paradox and mystery this sacred tree is one of the most common across our lands. Its delicate blossoms hide its sharp thorns, its tender love magic contrasts its ruling planet of Mars and its regal spirit as a guardian and keeper of the Otherworld seemingly opposes the deep inner peace that Hawthorn brings.
This 3 day retreat is an initiation into the majestic world of Hawthorn, together we will fast and only consume a powerful elixir made from the different parts of the tree. We will work with the spirit of Hawthorn in sacred space for healing, spiritual development and cleansing our heart so that we can embody the positive qualities of this magical tree to make Hawthorn an ally for life.
Next retreat is with Alder and Water for Samhain 2020 (30th Oct-1st Nov)

While the Initiation is an organic process there is a structure within which we work to guide your journey through a series of sessions including instructional lessons to connect to the spirit of plants and trees, journeying, transformational breath work, emotional freedom, plant spirit healing, meditations, creative and art sessions and a magical session to learn how to powerfully manifest the teachings of Hawthorn into your life.
We will fast from 9am on the Friday morning until 1pm on the Sunday and while this is not obligatory we do advise to try as this will enable a deeper connection to Hawthorn. We will however, provide crackers, nut butters and fruit for those not doing the complete fast. We will end the retreat with a feast and you will take home Hawthorn medicine to continue your work with Hawthorn because the Initiation is just the start of your new relationship with the spirit of this magical tree.
Please note that the Hawthorn elixir contains small amounts of alcohol.
This retreat is not recommended for pregnant ladies.
Emma & Davyd spent 6 months in the Himalayas with master energy healers and have spent five years learning from one of the world's leading plant spirit healers, Pam Montgomery. They are both certified plant spirit healers. Davyd has also completed a 2 year apprenticeship with Medical Herbalist and Plant Diet Initiator, Carole Guyett in Ireland. They both also spent 5 months in the Ecuadorian Amazon with Kichwa elder and shaman Kurikindi, his mother and sister learning a unique form of shamanic healing and receiving initiations into their Sacred Tobacco & Jaguar lineages. They are also part of the first people to be initiated into the Yew Mysteries for hundreds of years, brought to the modern era by Michael Dunning. They have studied Geomancy with Dr Patrick MacManaway and Celtic Shamanic Healing with David Leesley.
They are the founders of Plant Consciousness, the ground-breaking London event about the conscious intelligent world of plants and trees. Much of their understanding of the healing process comes from years of their own inner work into childhood, ancestral and soul traumas. Combined with a daily spiritual practice they have gone to the depths of their souls to make awakening an embodied process and uncover the truth of their existence.
Emma also holds a practicing Master's Degree in 'The Preservation & Development Of Wisdom Culture & The Art Of Liberation' in the Tibetan Buddhist Mahayana Tradition, writing her thesis on 'Understanding The Nature Of The Self Through Lucid Dreaming'. Emma spent 2 years at the Lama Tsong Khapa Institute in Tuscany studying under lamas and geshes including her refuge lama, Dagri Rinpoche.
Together Emma & Davyd blend their plant spirit healing, geomancy and pranic healing modalities and skills into a powerful methodology of shamanic and energetic healing.

How To Get There
As an eco-friendly and economical way to travel to the Isle of Man we recommend the ferry, plus you can bring your car if you want to explore this wonderful island before or after the retreat.
There are 3 ferry routes operating between England and Isle of Man offering you a combined total of 28 sailings per week. Steam Packet operates 3 routes, Heysham to Douglas runs 14 times per week, Liverpool to Douglas about 12 times weekly & Liverpool Birkenhead to Douglas about 2 times weekly. Timetables will be released in November.
As the frequency and duration of crossings on some routes varies we would advise that you do a live search for crossings from England to Isle of Man to get the most up to date information.
The alternative is to fly into Douglas airport and the centre is just a few miles away.
