The Purifier - Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
As preparation for the underworld journey, a cleansing of the etheric and emotional / astral body needs to take place. Parasitic and toxic psychic debris will be transformed with this powerful plant spirit. At the same time, Wormwood introduces us to the shadow aspects yet to be integrated, showing us inner work which still needs to be done and breaking through the illusions which keep us locked into detrimental ways of thinking and being. Inner vision is also activated by this Artemisia, supporting clear and direct experience of inner world realities.
The Elder - Yew (Taxus baccata)
The Yew tree stands as the portal to the Underworld, holding the gateway and allowing you to become familiar with the void of creation itself. The guru tree settles the nervous system and facilitates letting go of the false self, offering protection and karmic lessons to arise exactly when they are needed. Its poison holds the wisdom of the non-polarised perspective, essential for the integration of shadow and all that which emerges from it. Yew will oversee and hold your Underworld journey.

As we step through the portal the ally most appropriate for our inner world journey is Atropa belladonna. Another ally which helps us to let go of the past in order to clear space for the new. She also imparts knowledge about the Underworld and increases personal power including the willpower to overcome adversity. Expanding consciousness, activating the dream body and facilitating shamanic journeys, Belladonna will take you deep into layers of reality which you have not gone before allowing for personal breakthroughs and spiritual activations.
The Illuminator - Black Hellebore (Helleborus nigra)
This plant essence floods the energy field with brilliant pure light, offering protection and illuminating the way through the shadows of challenging times.
